The Importance of a Camera

"With my camera I capture the moments that keep me grounded when everything else feels like chaos." -Sabrina

If you know the name SabrinaPhotography, it's probably because you stumbled across the website of the same name, responsible for being a platform to undeniable camera-oriented talent.

But this skill did not come without trouble and turmoil. Born with an autoimmune disease known as Sjogren's Syndrome (SS) among other immunity issues, I have struggled with great difficulty as a result of the various disabilities Sjogren's Syndrome presents.

As a result of my SS, many of my extracurricular ventures have faced delays, lags and holds as a result of fatigue, circulation issues, inflammation…. You name it, I run the gambit there, too. But one thing that's perpetually saved me, that I can always do, is focus on my photography.

Even when my eyes hurt and my vision gets blurry, my camera can always see for me. Even when I have trouble moving around, I can sit in my backyard and observe my surroundings and appreciate the beauty that's right in front of me keeping me grounded. And on the days my brain is inflamed and I can't think, or form the right words…it doesn't matter because my photos speak for me. Even if the words are interpreted by everyone differently.

I found my love of photography after obtaining my first camera at ten years-old; a disposable Kodak my dad gave me. I took that thing everywhere until the moment it ran out of film. After realizing the pride, joy, and excitement I gained by taking photos, my dad gifted me a small camcorder capable of taking videos as well as photos. And then in high school I took a photography course where I obtained more skills and tools to take even better photos under the impressive guidance of my wonderful and beloved teacher. At this point my full potential was rapidly discovered and my amazing father invested in it even more by buying me my first truly professional camera in addition to Adobe Photoshop. Through this I soared and one of my photos I took wound up in an art exhibit for new photographers.

Despite such success, I only ever saw my hobby as such and nothing more, though I never gave it up and loyally stuck with it.

I finally decided to start selling my photos as a result of my parents' excitement and loving encouragement. I started with setting up a starter site posting but a few of my photos in hopes to gain some traction; not even a few years later and it only made sense to actively sell the photos in a more professional setting. That's when, how and where Celebrate Nature came into play. ❤💐📸

Why Our Photos?

A SabrinaPhotography photo isn't just an image. It's a story. Sometimes that story is obvious. Other times it's open entirely to interpretation. Whatever that story is and however it impacts you, one thing is always perfectly clear: Every photo serves as a reminder to not just appreciate what's around us, but to advocate for its protection. As we grow fearful of what's happening with every new history-breaking event, the smallest moments can keep us grounded. And as our planet declines, the things we've once taken for granted are now disappearing. Be a voice to our planet. It's a beautiful planet, and it needs us to fight. Just as it needs us to appreciate the gifts it has to offer.
